(Maximillian) Robert Gustav Weihe Obituary from The Bellingham Herald (1928):

R. M. Weihe, Veteran Bellingham Baker, Is Victim Sudden Death

Following a residence of forty years in Bellingham, Robert M. Weihe, pioneer baker of this city, died suddenly Wednesday evening at his home, 2710 Grove Street, aged 60 years. He had been in the bakery business here thirty-seven years and for eighteen years had been the proprietor of the Royal Bakery.

The deceased was born in Germany April 6, 1868, coming to this country in 1882. With his parents he settled in Iowa, attending school there and learning the baking trade. He came to the Pacific coast in 1888, and in 1890 came to Bellingham, starting a bakery with Charles Neff and operating under the name of the Bellingham Bay Bakery.

When his partnership with Neff was dissolved, Mr. Weihe started the Columbia bakery, which he maintained for fourteen years, finally selling the firm. In 1909 he reentered the trade, and in 1924 incorporated the Royal baker.

Soon after arriving in Bellingham, Mr. Weihe married Miss Marie Bowman, of Tacoma, who survives him. Other surviving relatives are on son, Frederick A. Weihe; one daughter, Mrs. Louis A. Wilke, both of Bellingham; two brothers, Emile in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Rudolph, in Chicago; two sisters in Germany, and three grandchildren in Bellingham.

Mr. Weihe was a member of the St. John’s Lutheran church and of the Concordia Singing society. The remains are resting at the Hollingsworth and Trester Funeral Home, and funeral announcements will be made later.

Errata:

1. Robert was born in 1867; he died June 6, 1928.
2. He came to the United States with his sister Martha and cousin Richard Kutzner, not his parents.
3. Robert first went to Fort Wayne before going on to Sioux City.
4. Charles Nef, not Neff.
5. He married Miss Marie Bormann, not Bowman.
6. She was from Everett, Washington, not Tacoma.
7. Mrs. Lloyd A. Wilke (Louise Weihe Wilke).
8. Emil Weihe, not Emile.
