Mrs. Klein, 89, died Wednesday
Funeral services for Mrs. Elizabeth M. Klein, 89, were held at 1:30 Saturday at the First United Methodist church. She died at Marengo Memorial hospital Feb. 26, 1969, after being ill since Jan. 1. The Rev. Stanley C. Kennedy, pastor of First United Methodist church, officiated at the service. Mrs. Dean Rodgers was the organist. The Rev. and Mrs. Richard Stoneburg provided two special vocal selections. Pallbearers were Lester, Elmer and Max Klein, Lawrence Lyons, Karl Punke, and Robert Warren. Interment was in Marengo Cemetery. Hoover-Valentine Funeral home was in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Klein was born on May 22, 1879, the daughter of John C. and Rebecca Lane Klever in Pilot Township of Iowa County. She received her education in the Pilot township schools. She married Charles R. Klein on Dec. 25, 1900, in Iowa County. Mrs. Klein has been a resident of Marengo since 1924. She was a member of First United Methodist church. She is survived by six sons, Roy L. and John R., Charles, Marengo; Truman H., Kenneth E., and Floyd L., Cedar Rapids; five daughters Mrs. Earl (Ada) Lyons, Vinton; Mrs. Lloyd (Martha) Bell, Cedar Rapids; Mrs. Ethel Warren, Mrs. Walter (Vinnie) Lynn, Marengo; Mrs. Clarence (Margaret) Schropp, Oxford. Also surviving are one sister, Mrs. Henry Hofmaster, Marengo; 53 grandchildren and 109 great grandchildren, 7 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husband in 1956, four brothers and one sister.
