Jug Earp played eleven seasons (1922-1932) in the National Football League, as a center and tackle with the Green Bay Packers. He was amongst the first 8 inductees into the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame. He also played with the Rock Island Independents, the New York Yankees (3 games), and the Frankford Yellow Jackets (1 game). The nickname "Jug" was a shortened version of his college nickname, "Juggernaut".

Earp was also the first president of the Packers Alumni Association and was the Packers Publicity Director from 1950-1954.
