Obituary - Newspaper, name and date unknown

Died, January 15, 1867, In Lee County, Ill, Mrs. Mary Uhl, relict of Samuel {Daniel} Uhl, aged 70 years, 6 months and 5 days.

Mother Uhl was remarkable for her earnest and devoted piety, and her great simplicity of character. She was a true monther in Israel. She had a mother's heart and a mother's sympathy and a mother's blessing. When I inquired of her son, our worthy brother, Rev. William Uhl, to state to me what he considered her prominent traits of character he replied, with his usual humility. "Oh! I cannot do that, all that I can say is, She was a mother in the fullest sense of the word." This, all that knew her, heartily accord to her. Her death was unexpected to her friends, but did not take her by surprise, for she believed in daily preparation of it. A few moments before she breathed her last she said to her daughter (Mrs. Harden) "Susan, I am dying, but oh I am so glad that I can go to my blessed Jesus." She brought up a family, all of whom, so far as the writer knows, are worthy and efficient members of the church. To have had such a mother, was an honor and a blessing. Her children and her children's children, in the great day of eternity, "will rise up and call her blessed."
