Lucille Stansell Corne, 92, of Fairfield, passed away Friday, December 23, 2011 at her home under hospice care. Graveside services were 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 27 at Fairfield Cemetery with Rev. T. Paul Kethley officiating. Visitation was Monday, December 26, 2011 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Capps Memorial Chapel.
Lucy was born September 28, 1919, in Bay City, to parents Charley and Etta Quinn Stansell. She was a retired office manager of Mercury Outboard Motors in Dallas. Previously she had been employed by Missouri Pacific Railroad in their general offices in Palestine. Lucy was a faithful member of First United Methodist church of Fairfield where she attended regularly until her illness. She was a former member of the Fairfield History Club and enjoyed many years of playing Bridge with her friends in Fairfield. Lucy had lived at her retirement home at Red Lake since 1982.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband, J. R. Corne of Fairfield; a son, Arthur Foss and wife Yvonne of Ingleside Bay; three daughters, Jerry Reynolds McDonough and husband Jim of Corinth; Jane (Tillie) Owens of Fairfield; Mary Francis Smith and husband Robin of Dallas; six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
If desired, in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Lucy's name to the building fund of First United Methodist Church of Fairfield at 201 N. Mount St. Fairfield, TX 75840.
