Cecil W. Bailey, 85, of East Whitaker Mill Road, Raleigh, died Wednesday, March 22, 2006. He was born in Wake County, the son of the late Zua Thompson Bailey and Ralph Bailey. He retired from CP&L after 36 years of service. Mr. Bailey was a World War II veteran of the United States Army and a member of Bay Leaf Baptist Church. Mr. Bailey is survived by two daughters, Bonnie Story; and Cece Doolittle and her husband, Jeff, all of Clayton; a brother, Hugh Bailey of Garner; two grandchildren, Asa B. Doolittle and Rebecca Story; and several nieces. He was predeceased by his wife, Inez Denton Bailey and his sister, Iona B. Walton. Our dad was our rock and advisor. He was the "Pop" that left his grandchildren wonderful memories, and his love was unconditional. He was the guiding light that never stopped shining and will be forever missed. Memorial services were held March 26 at Bay Leaf Baptist Church. Inurnment followed in the church cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bay Leaf Cemetery Fund, 12200 Bay Leaf Road, Raleigh, N.C. 27614.
