Mrs. Hattie C. "Betty" (Playford) Lewis, was born December 27, 1922 in Juanita, Nebraska to James C. Playford and Bertha Ann Pate. She passed away on December 15, 2011 in her home in Webb City, MO, at the age of 88 years, 11 months and 18 days.
She was united in marriage to Thomas I. Lewis on July 30, 1943. He preceded her in death on April 21, 2008. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Louise Playford; and three brothers, Gene Hofrock, Jim Sutton and Denzil Pate.
Survivors include a son, Hal Lewis, Marshfield; a daughter, Jean Williams, Webb City, MO; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; a brother, Carl Hofrock; and several other relatives and friends.
Tom and Betty spent their lives farming and in the jewelry business. They sold Lewis Jewelry after eleven years of business in Marshfield. Betty professed her faith in Jesus Christ and was a member of the Methodist faith.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 21, 2011 in Fraker Funeral Home, Marshfield, with Jean Williams (daughter) and Rev. Randy Swearengin officiating. Burial will be in the Marshfield Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 7-8:00 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Hospice Compassus in care of the funeral home.
