Penny Harris, 66, of Bartonville passed away at 6:58 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 11, 2011, at her home.

Born Nov. 6, 1945, in Peoria to Roscoe and Vaynor (Gregory) Creek, she married Scott Harris on Dec. 29, 1961, in Peoria.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1990; her parents; and two brothers, Kenneth and Bobby Creek.

Surviving are one daughter, Jill Harris, and one son, Scottie Harris, both of Bartonville; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She and her husband together owned and operated several businesses, including Peoria Muffler, Harris Auto Body, Drift Inn Supper Club in Trivoli and Harris Auto Salvage for more than 30 years. She worked for Illini Bluffs School District in the cafeteria from 1996 to 2011.

She enjoyed many years of dirt track auto racing with her husband and children and attending NASCAR Sprint Cup races.

She was a very loving and devoted mother and grandmother.

Her family will forever be grateful for the love and devotion of her "sister" angels, Donna Harris and Trudy Heitzman, especially during her illness.

Penny was a member of Creve Coeur Christian Church. She was a member of the Pekin chapter of the Delphi sorority.

Cremation will be accorded and burial of cremated remains will be in Maple Ridge Cemetery in rural Mapleton.
