Viola was born December 3, 1927, in Red Wing, the daughter of Henry and Dorris (Carpenter) Miller. She graduated from Red Wing Central High School in 1945 and worked at Red Wing Pottery as a painter. She married Donald Danielson on March 12, 1949, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. They farmed in the Burnside/Vasa area until 1969. After selling the farm they moved into Red Wing and she worked at various local retail stores as well as at the St. James Hotel and Corner Drug. Donald died in 1998. Viola was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church, a member of Ruth Circle and was a longtime 4H leader for the Burnside Pluckies. For over 60 years she has enjoyed her monthly get-togethers with her card club. She also enjoyed embroidery work, helping others when needed, and was a member of the Burnside Breakfast Group.
She is survived by her children; Jane (Bob) Stone of Red Wing, Gloria (Mike) Edwards of Bozeman, MT, and Jim Danielson of Red Wing; grandchildren, Jeremy Stone of Red Wing, Karissa Stone of Minneapolis, Zac (Sarah) Morgan-Edwards and Anna Edwards both of Bozeman, MT; great-grandchildren, Ian, Skye, and Parker; sisters, Evelyn (Calvin) Baker of Red Wing and Janell (Tom) Enberg of Ellsworth. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; parents, and her brother Roy Miller.
Funeral will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, December 28, 2011, at First United Methodist Church with Reverend Hugh Stephenson officiating. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and also for one hour prior to the service at church. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to First United Methodist Church or the American Lung Association.
