James S. Luechtefeld, 78, Leslie, passed away Saturday, June 6, 2009, at his residence.

Mr. Luechtefeld was born Dec. 31, 1930, in Casco, the son of Edward Luechtefeld and wife Elizabeth "Betty," nee Sunerdick.
He was united in marriage to Genevieve "Genny" Strubberg Aug. 10, 1964, at Holy Family Catholic Church, Port Hudson. Mr. Luechtefeld was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Port Hudson, and UAW Local 25, St. Louis. He served his country during the Korean Conflict in the U.S. Army. Mr. Luechtefeld worked as a parts supplier at the old General Motors Plant, St. Louis. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Harold, Frank, Robert and Edward Luechtefeld; and one sister, Margaret Parmentier. He is survived by his wife; four sons, Darel Luechtefeld and wife Donna, Rolla, Tom Luechtefeld and Paul Luechtefeld and wife Jane, all of Leslie, and Kenneth Luechtefeld and wife Trudy, Union; two daughters, Sharon Schengbier and husband William and Vicky Winistoerfer and husband Kevin, all of Leslie; one brother, Ben Luechtefeld and wife Arlene, Linn; one sister, Irene Bade and husband Joe, Beaufort; one brother-in-law, Ray Parmentier, Beaufort; two sisters-in-law, Carol Luechtefeld, Gerald, and Marcella Luechtefeld, Wildwood; 18 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends. Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 9, at St. Gerald Catholic Church, Gerald, with the Rev. Robert Leibrecht officiating. Memorials to Holy Family Catholic Church or TIP Hospice in care of Toedtmann-Grosse Funeral Home, 1221 Washington St., Hermann, are preferred. The family was served by Toedtmann-Grosse Funeral Home, New Haven.
