| Birth: | 1893 | | Death: | Jan. 9, 1923 | The names of four women who were executed at London's Holloway Prison are recorded on this memorial. The bodies were removed from the prison in 1971 due to complete rebuilding. Edith Thompson was executed because her lover, Frederick Bywaters, murdered her husband. Both were found guilty; the courts somehow "proving" her guilt through her surviving love letters to Freddy. However, there was no such evidence in the letters, although the jury could not known that because only half the correspondence was submitted in court. Innocent of murder, she was hanged for adultery. Both were hanged at the same time on January 9, 1923; she at Holloway and he at Pentonville.
