Thomas Floyd Gibson, age 60, of 2300 Taylor Road joined the eternal on Tuesday, December 20, 1960 at a hospital in Cleveland, Ohio after a long serious illness. He was ill for several years with polyarthritis. He had submitted to surgery three times. On account of his health, he was forced to retire three years ago. He was a member of the Church of our Savior Methodist Church at Cleveland. We believe Tom Gibson "endured as seeing One who is invisible" for he was a great sufferer. His ready smile, patience and apparent peace was an inspiration. He was always faithful in attendance at the Morning Worship Service and at the Home Builders' Class. He taught youth in our Church School for a period of time. Services were held at the Paul T. Long Funeral Home on December 22 and interment was at Acacia Park Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Delori; a daughter, Lucense Kiehler; two grandchildren; five brothers; and three sisters."
Floyd (as he was known by his family) was the first of his siblings to pass on. His siblings were Belva Miller, Shelva Gibson, Beulah Bottles, John Gibson, Emeline Erstine, Arville Gibson, Arlie Gibson, and Stanley Gibson.
Floyd was the son of Thomas Popham Gibson and Cordelia Binkley, and was born at Cold Friday near Worth. He graduated from Cold Friday School (No. 4) in 1915.
Thomas William (or F.) GIBSON of 2300 Taylor Road, Cleveland Heights, Ohio died December 20, 1960 at Cleveland Clinic Hospital at age 60. His funeral was at Paul T. Long Funeral Home, 12610 Woodland Avenue. (the first street north of Shaker Square), conducted by Dr. Howard J. BROWN.
After Thomas died his widow, Delori (CALLOW) GIBSON married Arthur K. WESTCOTT. When Delori died, April 9th, 1967 at Cleveland Clinic Hospital at age 65, her residence was 3816 Monticello Boulevard, Cleveland Heights, Ohio, She was the daughter of William Sherman CALLOW and Matilda Ann MYERS. Surviving was their daughter, Mrs. George (Lucene G.) KIEHLER of Lapeer, Michigan. Thomas GIBSON and Delori GIBSON WESTCOTT were both buried in Acacia Park Cemetery. After Thomas GIBSON died, Delori married 2nd a widower, Arthur K. WESTCOTT a widower whose wife, Alice B. (DUNLAP) WESTCOTT had died January 1, 1964. Arthur K. WESTCOTT of Mentor, Ohio died January 19, 1992 in a nursing home in Mayfield Heights, Cuyahoga county, Ohio at 93.
THOMAS F. GIBSON was survived by 3 sisters and 5 brothers.
