Ethel Stone was a British Home Child who was brought to Canada by the Catholic Emigration Association. She arrived at Quebec City on October 6, 1911 aboard the S.S. Victorian, and was taken with her travel party to St. George's Home in Ottawa.

Ethel was working as a domestic servant for Mr. Donat Girard and family at 92 Blackburn Avenue in Ottawa, when she suffered burns on the evening of January 14, 1916 after a spark from the stove set her dress on fire. Sadly, she died of her injuries on January 18, 1916.
