Heidi Heim, 90, of Columbus, died at 9:37 a.m. Wednesday, December 21, 2011, at her home, surrounded by her family.
A registered nurse, Mrs. Heim graduated from nursing school in Racine, Wis., worked as a recovery room nurse in Louisville and later as a nurse for the Bartholomew County Health Department for 13 years. She was a member of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church and enjoyed traveling, playing cards, working crossword puzzles, spending time with friends and watching her family flourish.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at noon Friday at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church with Father Clem Davis officiating.
Family and friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 10:15 to 11:15 a.m. Friday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Jonathan Moore Pike.
A prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
The family asks that memorial contributions be made to Just Friends Adult Day Care.
Born in South Milwaukee, Wisconsin, March 16, 1921, Mrs. Heim was the daughter of John Martin and Genevieve "Jenny" Goldmann Simbach. She married Raymond Joseph Heim in 1944. He preceded her in death on July 30, 1991.
Survivors include daughters, Nancy (Dan McGuirk) Heim of Highland, NY, and Jennie (Dr. Jerry) Franz of Burleson, TX; a son, Thomas (Mary) Heim of Columbus; grandchildren, Tracey Franz Brannum, Eric Franz and Heidi and Molly McGuirk; great-grandchildren, Brooke, Ben, Violet and Bailey; and a brother, Bob Simbach of Texas.
Mrs. Heim was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Richard Heim; a grandson, Joseph McGuirk; and siblings, Tracy, John, Mary, Lucy, Agatha, Frank, Joseph, Margaret and Conrad.
