Opal M. Hays, 75, Memphis passed away March 11, 1988 at the Scotland County Memorial Hospital, Memphis after several weeks of Illness. She was born May 16, 1912 at Bible Grove, the daughter of George H. and Rosa Salisbury Bradley.
On December 27, 1947 she was united in marriage to Van W. Hays in Kirksville.
She spent most of her life in Scotland County and was a member of the Church of Christ at Bible Grove.
Surviving are her husband, Van of Memphis; one sister, Norma Gardner and husband Joe, Bettendorf, Ia.; six nephews: Richard Bradley, Boyd Bradley, Charles Bradley, Ray Gardner, Richard Hays, and Robert Hays; nieces: Anita Leon and Connie Kahlandt; sister-in-law: Louise Green, Memphis; brother-in-law and wife, Charles and Minnie Hays, Waterloo, Neb.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and one sister. Two brothers died in infancy.
Services were held for Opal Hays on March 14 at 1 p.m. at Payne-Gerth Funeral Chapel, Memphis, Rev. Seth Wortman officiated. Organist was Ann Luther and soloist was Guy Gardine. Body bearers were: Richard Bradley, Boyd Bradley, Charles Bradley, Ray Gardner, Dennis Baker, and Tom Fender. Interment was in Memphis Cemetery.
