Waddy Butler, husband of Lucy Wood (1841-1921), was killed at the Battle of Chancellorsville, VA on May 1, 1863. He was a member of the 2nd South Carolina Infantry. The obituary of Lucy Wood Butler states that he was killed at Shiloh in Tennessee, but that is incorrect. I know this to be true because I just cataloged the diary of Lucy Wood Butler for the Library of Congress--it contains good biographical information about them both. The diary will be published in 2018 by the Louisiana State University Press.
