TRIBUTE IS PAID TO LATE GUY FLOURNOY
Jackson County friends and relatives of Guy Austin Flournoy were deeply grieved by his death near his home in Crosby, Texas, Wednesday, May 6. Death came as the result of an automobile accident on Highway 90.
Mr. Flournoy will be remembered here as one son of a family of 13 children of a pioneer couple, Dick and Odie Flournoy of the Morales Community. The family was a stabalizing influence in that community, and as the youngsters grew to adulthood, a number settled in Edna and continued to be great influence in the religious and community life there.
Mr. Flournoy married the former Eva Mae Hunt of the Cordele Community. They were the parents of one daughter, Wynona Rae Sanderlin. Mr. Flournoy's happiness was enriched by the companionship of two grandchildren, Rhonda Kay and Barry Wayne. As Mr. Flournoy would have willed it, Rhonda Kay's life was spared in the accident as his was taken.
In Crosby, services were held at the First Baptist Church at 10 a.m. The graveside services were held in the Edna Cemetery at 4:00 p.m., with Rev. J. T. Barnett and Rev. Bob Holbrook officiating at both services.
Pallbearers of Jackson County were Floyd Larkin of Cordele, Sheriff Lewis Watson, Bill Gloor, Lorane Miller and Wayne Miller of Edna, and Andrew Utz and Victor Jansky of Morales, Texas
