No Recent Word of Missing Dodson Airman
No additional information has been received since the close of the war regarding First Lt Elba Hunt, who has been listed as missing in action since May 26, when he took part in a B-29 raid near Tokyo, Japan.
Lt Hunt, the son of Gilbert and Ruth Hunt and his wife, the former Jeannette Bowling and a small son also live at Dodson.
Pilot of a B-29 he had made 14 missions. It is presumed that his plane went down over the target.
The 25 year old flyer had lived at Dodson all of his life. Upon graduating from high school there, he attended Texas Technological College at Lubbock for almost four years, entering the Air Force in 1942, shortly before he received his degree. He was commissioned in Florida and was stationed in the United States until December 1944, when he went to the Pacific theater.
One of Dodson's outstanding young men, he was a leader during both his high school and college years.
His brother-in-law Dayle Farris has been listed as missing in action in Germany since last November. A brother, Pfc Howard Hunt returned in September after serving in Europe. Other brothers and sisters are Vance Hunt, Mrs. Dayle Farris, Marilyn Hunt, Billy Dale Hunt and Kenneth Dean Hunt, all of Dodson.
