Friends of Mrs. Anna Somers were shocked to learn of her death, which occurred at the Memorial hospital Sunday at about 11:10 following an operation for appendicitis. Few knew of her illness, which was of only three days' duration, but she was taken to the hospital Saturday night, where she was operated upon and death resulted a few hours later. The funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon from the late home and were conducted by the Rev. Charles Miller, pastor of the Methodist church. The remains were laid to rest in Woodville cemetery. Anna Matson was born in Waterville in 1870 and her marriage to Edward Somers took place in Minneapolis 38 years ago. The greater part of their married life was spent in this city, as they came here shortly after they were married and for the past eighteen years they have resided here. They were the parents of sixteen children, fourteen of whom survive. They are: Harry, George, August, Edward, Joseph, Herman, Paul and Misses Minnie and Dorothy Somers, of this city; Mrs. L. O. Halverson, of Mountain Lake; Mrs. W. A. Meyers, of St. Peter; Mrs. Rady Smith and Mrs. Norman Nelson, who live in Iowa, and Mrs. Carl Hof, of Tulsa, Oklahoma. There are also 12 grandchildren. Mrs. Somers was a home woman, always devoted to her family, and a kind and helpful neighbor, and her sudden death is a severe loss to her family and friends. Sincere sympathy is extended to the bereaved family in the loss of both parents, Mr. Somers having passed away January 16th, two years ago.
