Evva Norton Nebel, 92, of Burton, died at her home Wednesday, March 23, of natural causes. She was born November 3, 1923, in Zurich Montana born to Henry Lorenzo Norton and Lavinia Hurst Norton. She was the third of eight children. In 1935 the family moved to Declo, Idaho where she continued her schooling and later graduated.

Evva met her sweetheart, Joe Nebel, while living with her sister Nina Wadsworth in Idaho Falls. They were later married in Idaho Falls, Idaho. They moved to Rexburg and later made their home in Burton where all the children were raised and where Evva was still living when she passed.

She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she held several callings including chorister and most recently tracking the Relief Society visiting teaching, a position that even at the age of 91 she took very seriously. She has left an incredible legacy with four daughters, 16 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren.

Evva was a lady of many talents which include her musicality, baking and gardening. She enjoyed jigsaw puzzles and at times had over 100 in her home. Her recent passion was to make and give her famous monkey bread to family, friends and neighbors and was known to even ship them to grandchildren and missionaries, She was proud of her home and her beautiful yard and took pride in planting and tending it even in her last years. She truly loved her wonderful neighbors and her family appreciated the help and comfort they provided her.

She started work outside the home at the Sugar City Mercantile in Sugar City and then went to work at Kings in Rexburg. She loved these jobs and the people she met and worked with.

She is survived by her children, Kaylene (Steve) Erikson of Pocatello, Collette (Kevin) Rinehart of Island Park and Diane Perry of Rexburg as well as 16 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings, Joan Wilson of Portland, Oregon and Wallace (Wally) Norton of Lindon, Utah.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Joe Nebel, her daughter LaRane Briggs, and her grandson Casey Rinehart and four sisters Nina Wadsworth, Myrl Carlson, Bennetta Wixom and Donna Okelberry and 1 brother Ray Norton.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 30, at the Burton Church at 3958 West 2000 South, Rexburg, with Bishop Logan Bingham officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at Flamm Funeral Home in Rexburg and Monday from 10:00 to 10:40 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment will be in the Ririe Shelton Cemetery.
