One of the early 1870 Dutch pioneers in Sioux County, Iowa.

From the Harrison Globe published in the Sioux County Herald, dated 21 May 1885, p. 5, col 3: "Peter Beukelman, who has been in Sioux county, Iowa, for a short time past, returned last Thursday and as was expected brought back with him a Mrs. Beukelman, nee Miss Dirkje Boogaart. The Globe joins with many friends in wishing the happy couple a long and happy life. –Harrison Globe."

From the EdgertonEnterprise, 16 Jan 1936: Peter Beukelman passed away on Friday, January 10, at 9:05 a.m. at his home in Leota at the age of 91 years. He was born in The Netherlands, and came to America at the age of eighteen with his mother, brothers and sisters, who passed on to the other world before him. Mr. Beukelman first resided at Pella, Iowa, later going on to Sioux County and making his home at Orange City. At this place he was married to Dorothy Bomgaars, and later they moved to South Dakota, where they lived for seventeen years. They moved back to Iowa and resided ten years, after which they came to Leota, where Mr Beukelman closed his earthly career.
The deceased was the father of six sons and three daughters. Mrs. Beukelman passed away twenty years ago, and two sons and one daughter also preceded their father in death. Funeral services were held Monday, January 13th, at Bethel Reformed church at Leota, and the remains were taken to Middleburg, Iowa to be laid to rest beside his wife. The deceased was a good citizen, a kind husband and father and a faithful member of the Reformed church.
