An obituary published in the Shelbyville Democrat on September 11, 1919 for Fleta Elizabeth Warren, stated she was born on the old Warren homestead in Windsor township, Nov. 20, 1910 and died at the family home in Shelbyville, Aug. 29, 1919. She was the eldest daughter of Webster C. and Cora Abercrombie Warren, and a great granddaughter of Eld. Peter P. Warren, who was one of the early settlers of Shelby County, and a pioneer preacher of the Church of Christ in Illinois. Fleta was the second of a family of four children, two boys and two girls. She was a member of the Bethany Church of Christ. Her early years were spent on the farm where she was born, near Bethany Church and she and her family had lived in Shelbyville four years. Funeral services were held at Bethany Chapel, conducted by Elder A. L. Gepford of Shelbyville. At the close of the services the body was carried by six of her girlfriends to the cemetery adjoining.
NOTE: From other records, I believe she was born in 1901, not 1910 as stated in the obit. There is a marker for her in Glenwood Cemetery,Shelbyville, IL, next to other family markers, but she is not listed in the burial records for Glenwood. We believe she is actually buried at Bethany as stated in the obit.
