S/Sgt. Joseph T. Pyrek, 339th Bomb Sq., 96th B. Group, killed in action over Denmark, April 9th, 1944, son of Anna, nee Krzos, brother of Walter, Sophie Lacki, John and Marie Swienton. Funeral Wednesday 9:30 a.m. from chapel, 1056 W. Chicago ave. cor. Ogden to St. Stephens church. Interment St. Adalbert. Thorpes Military services.

Joseph served as a Staff Sergeant and Waist Gunner on B-17G #42-40051, 339th
Bomber Squadron, 96th Bomber Group, U.S. Army Air Force during World War
II. He resided in Illinois prior to the war. B-17G #42-40051 took off from Snetterton, England, on a bombing mission. They were attacked and shot down by German fighter aircraft and crashed in Nysted, Denmark, during the war. The entire crew was lost.


Joseph was "Killed In Action" on this mission during the war.
