Of Woodland Retirement Center, Orbisonia, PA and formerly of Rockhill Furnace, died at 12:55 p.m. in the retirement center. Born May 20, 1928, in Rockhill Furnace, she was a daughter of the late Earl C. and Alberta Starr Painter. She was a member of Orbisonia Church of the Nazarene. For three years, she worked at Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg, and for more than 20 years worked for Greif Bros. Manufacturing, Mount Union. For a number of years, she was the judge of elections in Rockhill Furnace. On Sept. 12, 1947, she married Herbert E. Snyder in Three Springs. He died on March 28, 1995. Also preceding her in death were two brothers, Jack Painter and Donald Painter; and three sisters, JoAnne Painter, Christine F. McConaughey and Donna L. Waite. Surviving are three daughters, Deborah K. Crawford and Lu Ann A. White, both of Mount Union, and Karen S. McConaughey of Rockhill Furnace; three sons, Ronald E. and H. John, both of Orbisonia, and Barry E. of Warfordsburg; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a sister, Audrey Glunt of Orbisonia; and a brother, Alvin Painter of Three Springs. Service will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Martin R. Brown Funeral Home, Orbisonia, with the Rev. Darrell Nicklow officiating. Burial will be in Haven Rest Memorial Park, Shirleysburg. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and two hours before the service Monday in the funeral home.
