Pete A. Olea
As a Cursillisa, Pete entered his 4th day on April 24, 2005. He was born in Yuma on April 7, 1917. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Yuma and Immaculate Conception Church in Colton, California where he served as a Eucharistic Minister, member of the 3rd Order of St. Francis, served two terms as president and member of the Blue Army in Colton, California. He served as Eucharistic Minister at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic church and Yuma Regional Medical Center.
Pete retired from the Southern Pacific Railroad after more than 40 years. He also worked for Richards Market for over 20 years as a meat cutter and owned his own meat market, Pete's Meat.
Pete is survived by his daughters, Marie Olea, Ernestine Gonzales, Rosalee (Ruben) Gonzales, and Irene Olea; sons, Peter (Raquel) Olea, Eugene (Blanca) Olea, and Frank (Kathy) Olea; 26 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by sisters, Irene O. Amavisca, Carmelita Olea, and Beatrice Olea; brother, Robert Olea; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pete and his wife Isabel were foster parents and cared for many children.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Isabel Olea; and brother, Ray Olea.
Visitation will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic church on Thursday, April 28, 2005 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. with recitation of the rosary at 7:30 p.m. The funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic church on Friday, April 29, 2005. Final resting place will be at Holy Cross at Desert Lawn Mortuary in Yuma.
Pallbearers will be James E. Mejia, Joel Olea, Richard Munguia, Pete C. Olea, Joseph A. Olea, Matthew Olea, Michael Munguia, and Todd Wells. Honorary pallbearers are Robert Cuello, Thomas Cuello, Peter A. Olea, Joseph F. Olea, John Amavisca, Frank Amavisca, Enes Amavisca, Robert Carreno, Carlos Rivera, Dan Gann, and Andrew and Anthony Daniel.
Memorial donations can be made for Saints Clare Chapel at St. Francis of Assisi church in Yuma.
