Investigative journalist. Born Isador Feinstein Stone, known as "Izzy." Started his journalism career with the Camden Courier-Post. Writer for the New York Post from 1933 to 1939. Washington editor of The Nation from 1940 to 1946. From 1948 to 1952 worked for the New York Star and th Daily Compass. Founded the I. F. Stone's Weekly in 1953, and in the 1980's authored a column appearing in The Nation entitled "Izzy Says." Authored many books including The Court Disposes (1937), Underground to Palestine (1946), The Hidden History of the Korean War, 1950-1951 (1952), The Haunted Fifties (1963), In a Time of Torment, 1961-1967 (1967), The Killings at Kent State: How Murder Went Unpunished (1971), and, The Trial of Socrates (1988). Wrote extensively against McCarthyism, racial discrimination, and the Vietnam War.
