| Birth: | Aug. 18, 1844 | | Death: | Nov. 6, 1920 |  Civil War Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient. He served as a Brevet Captain in the Union Army. He was awarded the Medal of Honor as a Sergeant Major in the 57th Massachusetts Infantry for action on March 25, 1865 at Fort Stedman, Virginia. His citation reads "Captured the flag of the 57th North Carolina Infantry (C.S.A.), and saved his own colors by tearing them from the staff while the enemy was in the camp." (bio by: Don Morfe)
