| Birth: | 875 | | Death: | 928 | Croatian Monarch. Considered the greatest king of the Croatian people, during his reign Croatia's borders were as far as Austria and west towards Hungary. His army had 100,000 well armed soldiers and a very huge navy given the times. He fought back the Hungarians who were trying to invade Croatia and the Bulgarinas who were also trying to invade others. But in 928 he went missing and the records regarding him go silent. Some scholars believe he fell out with Rome because of his support Of Grgur of Nin. Tomislav and this bishop wanted church services to be in Croatian and not in Latin. There were other issues as well regarding the church that Tomislav would not compromise on as he was a man of great integrity. It is thought that he was murdered and his body buried secretly and today there is a special project underway to find him and give him an honourable burial. There is a large statue of the King in Zagreb, Croatia. (bio by: girlofcelje (inactive))
