Second son of Herman Heintzman and Lucy Anne {Spink} Heintzman of Parkwood Avenue, Toronto

Attended Annette Street Public School and Humberstone Collegiate Institute, both in Toronto. Applied Science 1905-1907. Employed prior to World War One with Heintzman & Co., manufacturers of fine pianos

Second Lieutenant, Royal Air Force, 42nd Wing.

In October 1917, Thomas joined the Royal Flying Corps, and after training in Texas and at Armour Heights (Ontario), he was appointed Instructor at Desoronto in Hastings County

On May 29, 1918, near the Rathbun aerodrome while instructing a pupil in flying, another machine suddenly appeared in their path. A collision was inevitable, but in an effort to save the other machine, 2nd Lt Heintzman made a quick turn. This manoeuver, however, proved fatal. 28-year-old Lt Heintzman and his trainee-passenger were instantly killed when the aircraft went up in flames

Lt Heintzman was buried in the family crypt at Toronto
