Squire Edward Howard
Birth: May 15, 1840
Death: Nov. 26, 1912

Civil War Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient. He served as a Captain in the Union Army. He was awarded the Medal of Honor as a First Sergeant in Company H, 8th Vermont Infantry for action on January 14, 1863 at Bayou Teche, Louisiana. His citation reads "Voluntarily carried an important message through the heavy fire of the enemy to bring aid and save the gunboat Calhoun." (bio by: Don Morfe)
