SANFORD; Juliette R. Beaubien, 83, died peacefully in the comfort of her home with her family by her side on Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2008.
She was born in Hamnord, Quebec, Canada, on Nov. 6, 1924, a daughter of Sinai and Maria (Cloutier) Morin. She came to the United States to live with her grandmother when she was 12 years old.
Juliette went to work in the local mills at the age of 16 to help the family. She would carry this dedication and work ethic throughout her entire life. For many years, she owned and operated "Julie's Lunch"; homemade goodies and lunches she prepared the "ol' fashioned way"; and delivered them throughout the Sanford/Springvale area and toward Alfred and Waterboro. Mrs. Beaubien also worked at the Strawberry Patch in Springvale and Nasson College.
Juliette had a terrific sense of humor and loved to play tricks on the unsuspecting. One of her classic lines when she was out and about with her lunch wagon was "Double or nothing." She enjoyed trips to Foxwoods; a few years back, she traveled with her daughters to Las Vegas.
A self sufficient woman, Juliette could do just about anything around her home. She enjoyed her flower gardens, the computer and the world of opportunity and adventure she could explore on the Internet.
Juliette never forgot her heritage; she loved French music and was devoted to her husband, Joseph, who had been disabled for 24 years before he died in 1993.
She loved her children and the grandchildren and great-grandchildren that made her life full and complete. She will be remembered for her generous spirit and maintaining lifelong friendships.
Family survivors include her son, Roger L. Beaubien, of Waterboro; two daughters, Joanne Pelletier and her husband, Bob, of Springvale, and Susan Woycik and her husband, Frank, of Ashaway, Rhode Island; three sisters, Ange-Aimee, Jeanne and Jeannine, all of Canada; 6 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and cousins; and her special friend, Edgar Chevalier, of Sanford.
She was predeceased by five brothers and one sister.
Family and friends called on Friday, Feb. 22, at the Autumn Green Funeral Home in Alfred. A funeral service was held on Saturday, Feb. 23, at the Alfred Parish Church in Alfred; Pastor Rick Leach officiated.
Committal prayers and burial will be held later in the spring at St. Ignatius Cemetery. To leave a message of condolence for the family, please visit www.autumngreenfuneralhome.com. Published in Fosters from February 28 to February 29, 2008
