Sterling D. Borger, 91, of Kunkletown, died Monday, Nov. 28, in his home. He was the husband of the late Pauline J. (Borger) Borger. Born in Aquashicola, he was the son of the late Robert and Carrie (Haydt) Borger.

A graduate of Polk Township High School, Sterling had been a dairy farmer in Kunkletown all his life. He had also worked for the New Jersey Zinc Company in Palmerton for 27 years before retiring in 1969.

He was a member of the Grundsow Lodge Nommer Sexa and the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau. He had also served on the board of the soil conservation commission in Monroe County and on the board of directors of the Lehigh Valley Dairy. Sterling was a member of Jerusalem United Church of Christ in Trachsville.

He is survived by five children, Larry Borger and his wife, Nancy, of Aquashicola, Barbara Borger and her husband, Marvin, of Kunkletown, Roger Borger and his wife, Anita, of Kunkletown, Judy Borger of Palmerton and Carol Gougher and her husband, Kerry, of Palmerton; two sisters, Lauretta Tartar of Weatherly and Doris Haag of Palmerton; five grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Margaret Smith, Elaine Smith and Leona Meitzler; and by three brothers, Carl, Bartine and Ray Borger.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 2 from Jerusalem United Church of Christ with the Rev. William Ellsworth officiating. Burial will be in Jerusalem Lutheran Cemetery. A closed casket visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service from the church on Friday.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Jerusalem UCC, 545 Church Drive, Palmerton, PA 18071.
