First husband was Otto Albert Smith Mannings with whom she had six children, four in England and two in Ontario after immigrating in 1881.
After Albert died in 1908 Emma lived with their daughter Lizzie in Detroit. By 1910 she had returned to Chatham and married widower oil merchant James Francis Armstrong who died in 1917.
Emma then returned to Michigan, living with another daughter Amy before her final return to Chatham.
