S.A. Antle, 87, Succumbs at Russell Springs

Stephen A. Antle, 87 years old, died at his home in Russell Springs, late Wednesday, June 21, following a lingering illness. He was widely known and had many friends.

On Febrary 4, 1877, he was united in marriage to Mary Ellender McKinley. Eleven children were born to this union, six sons and five daughters, one daughter, Minnie Pearl, died at the age of four years, and another daughter, Mrs. Anna Bell Hayes, died in 1937.

The surviving children are Owen Antle, Montpelier, Odas Antle, Glensfork; Velmer and Alvin Antle, Russell Springs; Clarence Antle, Jacksonville, Texas, and Roy Antle, Vernon, Texas.

The surviving daughters are Luella Randolph, Indianapolis, IN; Mrs. Rosa Aaron, Russell Springs; and Mrs. Hattie Smith, Fonthill. His wife passed away 14 years ago. All were present at the funeral except Roy.

He is also survived by one brother, John Wright Antle of Crocus, and one sister, Mrs. A. M. Collins of Crocus. Another brother, Larue Antle, died on the same day as Mr. Antle. Also a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren and a host of friends to mourn his passing.

He professed faith in Christ in early manhood and lived a devoted Christian life to the end, ever spreading good cheer among his neighbors and at all times preaching the Gospel of Christ in his daily walks.
