THE INTERIOR JOURNAL, STANFORD, KY., FRIDAY, JANUARY 1, 1915
With the closing of the year came the end of a beautiful life. Mrs. Emma Adams Newbern, wife of David J. Newbern, was born, grew to womanhood, and married in Bolivar, Tennessee. About thirty years ago she with her family came to Hustonville where she has since made her home.
Always frail in body, her undaunted spirit and courage and energy have been an inspiration to her family and friends. Three years ago her illness reached the stage where she became a constant sufferer. She was surrounded by every care that loving hearts and tender hands can give, but no earthly power could lessen her pain, and it was a blessed release to her when at last, her loved ones realized the "He giveth His beloved, sleep."
The sympathy of their friends goes out to the sorrowing family, whose happy cheerful home is darkened by the loss of her, the soul of that home. "The heart of her husband trusted in her, and her children arise up and call her blessed."
Mrs. Newbern is survived by her husband, four daughters, Mrs. McKeown, of Louisville, Miss Georgia Newbern, of Knoxville, Misses Prill and Beecher Newbern, of Hustonville, two sons, T. D. and C. R. Newbern, of Knoxville; her mother, Mrs. Martha Adams, of Stanford, two sisters, Mrs. T. W. Pennington, of Stanford and Mrs. Rodman Keenon, of Harrodsburg and six brothers, R. N. and Greenberry Adams, of Texas, J. B. Adams, of Danville, J. S. Adams, of Cleveland, O., and A. J. and C. W. Adams, of Hustonville.
