Mrs. Mildred M. Rees
Mrs. Mildred M. Rees, 76, Topeka, died Saturday, March 16, 1991, at a local hospital.
Mrs. Rees had been an activities therapist at Topeka State Hospital.
She was born Aug. 31, 1914, at St. Mary's, the daughter of Robert and Margaret Ann McCoy Best.
Mrs. Rees was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church, and in 1976, she was recognized nationally in Rock and Gem Magazine as craftsperson of the year. She also was president of the Hayden High School Mother's Club.
She was married to William L. Rees Aug. 12, 1939, at Topeka. He died Oct. 27, 1982.
Survivors include a daughter, Rachel Hewins, Topeka; three sons, Michael Rees, Daniel Rees, and Joel Rees, all of Lecompton; a brother, Roland Best, Topeka; five sisters, Catherine Berberick, Marguerite Etzel, Irene Donnelly, Rita Best and Rosezella Appelhanz, all of Topeka; and four grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Holy Name Catholic Church. Burial will be at noon Tuesday in Mount Hope Cemetery. Mrs. Rees will lie in state from 2 to 9 p.m. today at Brennan Funeral Home, where a Daughters of Isabella rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m., followed by a parish rosary at 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Marian Clinic, 1001 Garfield, Topeka 66604.
