Charles J Atkinson, father of Burton Allison Atkinson, was married twice. Burton's mother is Charles' first wife, Melissa M. She died between 1880 and 1887. Charles married Eliza Haworth in 1887, so she could not be the mother of Burton. Eliza's only child was Clinton B. Atkinson
