Frank Gerald Blaker
Birth: May 8, 1920
Death: Jul. 9, 1944

World War II Victoria Cross Medal Recipient. He served as a Major in the Highland Light Infantry, British Army. At Burma on July 9, 1944, Major Blaker was ordered to position with his company to attack a strong enemy position. At a crucial moment Major Blaker's Company came under heavy fire and their advance was completely stopped. Major Blaker then advanced ahead of his men, in spite of being severely wounded, he located the machine guns and single handed charged the position. When hit by a burst of three rounds through the body, he continued to cheer on his men while lying on the ground. He died of his wounds while being evacuated from the battlefield. For meritorious service, he was posthumously awarded the Victoria Cross Medal. (bio by: John "J-Cat" Griffith)
