| Birth: | Aug. 22, 1923 | | Death: | Jun. 24, 1944 |  World War II Victoria Cross Recipient. Born in London, England, he served as a Captain in the Gurkha Rifles, 3rd Battalion, British Indian Army. During the Mogaung Operations, Burma, on June 23, 1944, Captain Allmand was in command of a platoon in an attack on a railway bridge. He led his men onto the high ground over the position, then moved forward alone and charged a Japanese machine gun nest. He single-handedly whipped out the machine gun nest but he was mortally wounded and died the next day. For Gallantry in the face of the enemy, he was posthumously awarded the Victoria Cross presented to his family by King George VI at at Buckingham Palace on July 17, 1945.
