A beloved member of the Order of Preachers, Friar George Lensen was born in 1919, in Schoonhoven, South Holland, The Netherlands, to Adrianus Christianus Lensen and his wife Anna Stekelenburg.
He received his studies at Uden, under the Crosiers Fathers, and joined the Dominican Fathers at Huissen on September 17, 1938. Ordained to the Priesthood by Archbishop Jozef Lemmens of Roermond in 1944, he moved to Curaçao as a Missionary in 1947.
He returned back to the Netherlands after 32 years of missionary activity in the Netherlands Antilles on medical advice, where he led the Parish of Hertme for twelve years, retiring in 1996.
Since 1999, he resided at the Berchmanianum Monastery in Nijmegen, where he passed away after years of frail health on Monday, October 4, 2010, aged 91. Father George lies buried at the Kloosterverzorgingshuis Berchmanianum in Nijmegen.
