He passed away in 1946 and is buried in the Bunker Hill (Beulah) Cemetery. He did not leave a family.
His father Burr Officer was possiblily the only Negro to homestead in the Beulah, Wyoming community. He had been a slave in Tennessee. He came to the Black Hills in 1896. It is not known where he is buried. He was living in Beulah in 1915.

TINTON MAN DIES AT RAPID CITY
Ted Officer of Tinton, died at St. John's hospital in Rapid City Thursday afternoon. The body is at the McColley Funeral Home in Spearfish.
Officer is survived by a brother, Sydney L. Officer, of Oroville, Calif., and a sister, Mrs. Margaret Glenn, Chicago. Both will arrive in Deadwood Sunday afternoon to attend funeral services.
Services were held at 5 o’clock Sunday afternoon at McColley Funeral Home in Spearfish. Burial was in the Beulah, Wyo. cemetery.

LAST RITES HELD FOR TED OFFICER
Funeral services for Ted Officer were held in the McColley Funeral chapel at Spearfish Sunday at 5 p. m. The Rev. Gordon Nelson of the Congregational church conducted the service.
“The Old Rugged Cross” and “In the Evening by the Moonlight” were sung by a quartet of Ernest Lown, Clarence McCain, Mrs. Burt Scott and Mrs. Lillian Fillmore. Mrs. Fillmore also sang a solo “Empty Saddles.” They were accompanied by Mrs. R. W. Helper.
Attending the service was Mrs. Margaret Glenn of Chicago, I'll., a sister of Officer.
Interment was in the cemetery at Beulah, Wyo., on Monday. Pallbearers were Alfred Sleep, E. L. Matthews, Dick Cundy, Oscar Bondurant, Frank Kokesh and Carter Craig.
