Mrs. Edward D. "Bud" (Vera M.) McGinnis, 82, of Sunnycrest Manor, formerly of Mount Pleasant Home, died at 12:37 a.m. Thursday, April 30, 1998, at Sunnycrest.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with burial in Linwood Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St., where there will be aparish wake service at 4:30 p.m.

Mrs. McGinnis worked at the former Dubuque Packing Co., Apel's Market and Kroger's Grocery Store. She last worked at Meyer-Pauly Furniture Store.

She was born on May 2, 1915, in Gilman, Wis., daughter of William and Alta (Rheel) Phillips. She married Edward D. "Bud" McGinnis on Jan. 19, 1935, in Dubuque; he died on March 6, 1987.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Parish. She enjoyed gardening and flowers. She dearly loved and enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving are a daughter, Shirley M. (Leo) Pottebaum, of Dubuque; three sons, Lawrence F. (Susan) McGinnis, of Moline, Ill., James D.(Lynne) McGinnis, of Sebastian, Fla., and Wayne R. (Cindy) McGinnis, of Dubuque; 16 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Donald (Lorraine Abitz) Kopp, of Dubuque, and Dorothy Revenig, of Bluefield, Va.; and a brother, Lloyd (Darlene) Phillips, of
East Dubuque, Ill.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mrs. Donald (Barbara) Pregler; two sisters, Mrs. Robert (Gladys) Lange and Mrs. Leo (Evelyn) Miller; and a brother, Virgil "Bud" Phillips.

A Vera M. McGinnis Memorial Fund has been established.
