Mary Mink - Wenatchee

Mary Mink, a resident of Wenatchee for 28 years, passed away peacefully to be with her Lord, on Sunday night, Jan. 14, 2001.

Mary Wilson Whitaker was born to James Raymond and Hattie B. Whitaker on Nov. 11, 1907 in Bradshaw Mill, KY. She received her education in Kentucky, which included a year of college.

She married the Rev. Nelson Mink on May 14, 1928 in Richmond, KY. He was the pastor of a church in Carthage, KY at that time and she became the "Parsonage Queen." She served in this role through all of the pastoral assignments including a period of five years in Australia, until they retired to Wenatchee in 1973. She was a multi-talented lady who even filled the pulpit for several weeks when the Rev. Mink suffered a serious illness.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Thomas N. and Mary Ann Mink of Idyllwild, CA; her daughter and son-in-law, Doris and Charles Brodhead of Riverside, CA and her daughter and son-in-law, Juanita and Jim Anderson of Wenatchee; and a sister, Ada Herald, New Port Richey, FL. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Connie Lou, Charles Nelson, Jerrold, Jeffrie and James Nelson; and nine great-grandchildren, Chadwynn, Emylee, Charles Douglas, Jarrod, Jason, Justin, Sarah, Braden and Melissa.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and two brothers, Earl and Price, as well as five sisters, Flossie, Mattie, Hazel, Thula and Nellie.

Commemoration Services will be held at the First Church of the Nazarene, 1011 So. Miller, Wenatchee on Friday, Jan. 19, 2001 at 10 a.m. Concluding services and the interment will follow in Wenatchee Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday from noon until 8 p.m. and on Thursday from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m.

Friends who wish may make memorial donations to the Church of the Nazarene Memorial Fund.

Arrangements are by Telford's Chapel of the Valley, East Wenatchee.
