Willie was a member of the Main Street United Methodist Church, was employed as a clerk at Senger Dry Goods and was the former store manager of Plotner's Dress Shop.
Willie had a passion for living, which one couldn't help but notice. She had an infectious love for life, family and friends. She played the violin, enjoyed playing golf and was an avid softball player in her younger days. She was particularly proud of the fact that she pitched in the National Championship game of the Women's Fast Pitch Softball Tournament in St. Louis, MO in the late 1930's. Willie had a special place in her heart for all animals especially her dogs.
She is survived by a daughter Jolene Jorgensen and her husband Robert of Peru; a son Terry Troxell and his wife Linda of Shirley, IN; grandchildren Lori Jorgensen, Tony Troxell and his wife Shannon and Andy Troxell and his wife Tracy; great-grandchildren Jacen Troxell, Benjamin Troxell and Mary Troxell; two sisters Lelia Martin of North Manchester and Bonita Harris of Peru. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Cecil, two brothers John Marvin Ireland and William Ireland and five sisters Oveta Frasure, Lavon Wilrath, Helen Cox, Edith Fritchey and Ann Keim.
A service celebrating the life of Wilma Jean "Willie" Troxell will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, 84 West Main Street, Peru, with Rev. John E. Hess officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Mexico, IN. Family and friends will gather from 5:00-8:00 PM, Tuesday at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home.
