Death's Harvest
Mrs. Anna M. Johansen, wife of Fritz Johansen, died at her home in this city, last Friday morning at 10 o'clock, after being bedfast but about three weeks, though she had been sick a long time, her ailment being cancer of the liver. She was born at Strukampf, on the Island of Fehmarn, then a Danish possession, but now German, on Jan. 18, 1846, was married to Fritz Johansen, March 5, 1866. They came to America in 1880, stopping at Davenport, Ia. two years then they came to Sherman County, Nebraska where they have lived since. Her husband and ten children and 16 grand children survive her, the children are Hannah French and Emma Oltman of Loup City, Kate Siepman and Dolly Thompson of South Omaha, and Vena Bellinger of St Paul, Nebr. The sons are Henry of Kansas, Chris, Herman and James of Loup City, and Paul of Grand Junction, Colo., all her children were here, also Joseph Siepman her son-in-law, and Jack La France of Tipton, Ia., her brother. The remains were laid to rest in Evergreen cemetery at Loup City, after a sermon at the Presbyterian church delivered by Rev. Montgomery, assisted by Rev James of the Baptist and Rev. Hawk of the Methodist. Her five sons and brother were the Poll bearers, about 40 Odd Fellows proceeded the hearse.
