Birth: unknown
Death: May 3, 1863
Chancellorsville
Spotsylvania County
Virginia, USA

Born c.1837, 1st Sgt. Munn of Co. E, 13th NJ Volunteers, was killed in action at the Battle of Chancellorsville, VA, on the third day of the fighting. A resident of Montclair, NJ, he was 25 years old at the time of his death. Like many patriotic young men from Essex County, NJ, he had enlisted for a 3-year term the previous August, when the 13th Volunteers, an infantry regiment, was formed in Newark, NJ, at Camp Freelinghuysen. One of his contemporaries, who wrote a history of Montclair in 1908, described John B. Munn as an "esteemed young man of the town" who left many relatives and friends mourning his loss.
