He died of consumption. He and his wife did have a son, Richard Pugh b. 31 Dec 1873 d. 10 Dec 1955.
It is not known where his father is buried, but a memorial has been placed for him with the the Hutcheson Cemetery located on his grandfather's property, though there are only three headstones and one cairn (where his grandmother is known to be buried and perhaps his grandfather) visible there by 2010.
