An obituary published in the Shelbyville Democrat on April 10, 1919, for Ira Barnett, stated that he had been an invalid for 23 years. Funeral services were held at the home of his brother, E. E. Barnett of Shelbyville, Rev. J. E. Kieffer, pastor of the Lutheran Church officiating. Burial was in Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Mr. Barnett was born in Ohio, May 25, 1854, and at his death was 64 years, 11 months and 10 days old. He was a son of the late Perry and Euphemia Barnett and for many years lived in Shelbyville, being cared for by relatives who devoted themselves to his welfare. He was a member of the Unitarian Church. Mr. Barnett was survived by two brothers and two sisters, namely: Miss Olive Barnett and E. E. Barnett of Shelbyville, Mrs. W. D. Boon of Los Angeles, Cal., and Virgil Barnett.
