DEATH OF MRS. RENARD
Mrs. Renard, wife of F. Renard, passed away at the family home in this city Saturday last at 7a.m. after a long illness of heart trouble. She had lived to the age of 79 years, and during her life had been a tireless worker and helpmate to her husband and their family who are numbered among our most influtential and esteemed citizens. She was a true pioneer of the west and was an early settler of western Burt county, where the Renards have by their careful management and strict attention to business accumulated an elegant home and surroundings.

The deceased was a native of Germany and has those strong characteristics so prominent with that nationality. She was identified with the Lutheran church during her life and her funeral was held at the Lutheran church in this city. Monday afternoon, Rev. Swanberg officiating.

A large concourse of friends and neighbors followed her to her last resting place in the Oakland cemetery.

Mrs. Anna Renards maiden name was Wolf; born in Hanover Germany; came to Wisconsin in the fall of 1847 and married at that time Fred Renard; lived in the original American forest 3 miles from Watertown, helped him as a noble woman 13 years there to build out of the forest a farm & both went with 5 children after they sold this 80acres for $3000 with 2 ox team to Nebraska, arriving in Washington county 5 miles south of Arlington on July 4th, 1860 to settle on the naked prairie. The deceased worked with unparalleled energy to establish a home and this was accomplished, thanks to her great assistance. She did not hesitate a minute to to in 1870 to Burt county where she worked days and part of the nights as circumstanced in housekeeping to help her honest part to give the county a grist mill. To her untiring activity, good council, a self sacrificing resignation for the common good, the Renard family owe her thousands of thanks for their success in life, The naked truth in the life of the deceased was not that of pleasure; contrary it was full of bitter hardships, in fact very hard. Is it not of the commencement of early settlment? Hard but harder were the last weeks of her sickness as the battle of death was horrible, under terrible pain. There would escape expressions of suffering but never a complaint, except, "God have mercy." Only once, recognizing a long acquainted neighbor from the early days, she complained just before her death of her terrible sufferings. Her self sacrificing, active carrer under the grace of God closed Sept. 17th and 7am 1898. She will rest in peace.Born and educated in EV Lutheranfaith, she reached the age of 79 years. She leaves a husband, 8 children and 20 grandchildren to mourn a bitter loss and separation.

The names of the children are Fred, Andrew, Edward, Netta, Elizabeth, Sybilia and Gustave.
