Augustus "Gus" Harris Jones, Sr. was born in 1812 to Russell Jones, Jr. (born abt 1775 - died on the trail to Gonzales, Texas) and Sophia Harris (born in Georgia - died abt 1851 Gonzales County, Texas). Augustus and some of his family including parents and brother Judge William Early Jones likely came to Texas together.
By 1835 he was in Texas and among those armed volunteers who took control of Goliad in the fall of 1835. In December 1835 he took part in the Seige and Battle of San Antonio de Bexar.
Captain Augustus Jones later returned briefly to his home state of Georgia to marry (1)fifteen years old Ann Roseanna Randle on October 8, 1839 in Jackson County, Georgia. The newlyweds happily journeyed to Texas to begin their lives. They had seven children through the years. Ann Roseanne Randle Jones, age 27, died December 21, 1851 in Gonzales County, Texas on their homeplace.
Captain Augustus Harris Jones, Sr. married (2)Julia A. Hatchett in 1853. Julia died in 1854.
Widower Augustus Harris Jones, Sr. married (3) Minera Ann Lewis a few years later.
They became the parents of children:

2. Susan Jones: b unknown - d unknown.

Sue Willie Peck: b Sep 20, 1864 TX - d Jan 18, 1939 San Antonio, Bexar Co., Texas. Augustus Harris Jones, Jr. became the beloved Mayor of San Antonio, Texas.
